Hello! I recently attended a fabulous workshop hosted by the amazing Pamella Dunn, of My Wedding Business which was held at the equally amazing and inspiring B.Loved Hive at the Biscuit Factory, London. This was my first workshop since entering the wonderful world of weddings, and it didn’t disappoint! (I’ll try and share more details in another post, soon!) Whilst there, I was fortunate to hear from Charlotte Spain of Redamancy wedding planning. If you are a cool, edgy bride and groom to be and after some inspiration, you must check her out! She is totally fabulous! Charlotte spoke about blogging and how it can help your potential clients get to know you, better than your website ever will. So, with only two blog posts to my name so far, it’s a good time to introduce myself! I’m Jade Leung, owner of the very creatively named Jade Leung Weddings and special events! (don’t judge my creativity on that name, please!).
I grew up in Caernarfon, North Wales and now live just a few miles away in Llanrug with my partner Iwan, and our two gorgeous daughters Lwsi Rae and Elsi. I have lived in the area for most of my life, apart for a couple of years in Newcastle where I completed my Masters’ degree, and a couple of years in London and Reading, where I started my professional career in events. It was this time away that has ultimately led me here, into the wedding industry!
If I’m honest, I always fancied myself as a wedding planner. Especially the cliché headset wearing Jennifer Lopez style! But growing up it wasn’t ever really seen as a career option. Living in Newcastle; a young, trendy, fashion forward City a little later in life (mid-twenties) was great because it opened my eyes to expressing yourself and your individuality, and to being creative. It was then that I found a love of design, particularly in fashion and interiors. The wedding design bug didn’t kick in properly until a few years ago, but that ethos of doing things your own way and embracing your personality and uniqueness has stuck with me in my wedding planning and styling.

It was whilst on maternity leave (with baby number 1) from my events role that I found myself trawling the internet for interior design inspiration, fashion inspiration … and eventually, wedding inspiration (something Iwan just thought was a massive hint at the time! ... well, the hint didn’t work as we are still not married! Ha!). I really caught the bug, and I started an online Diploma with the UK Academy of wedding planning, and the rest as they say, is history! Well, not quite … I am still studying, alongside raising my now two daughters and working as an Events Consultant for an IT analyst company, the same company where I started off in events. I’ll finish my diploma by January 2018 – by which time I will have coordinated my first wedding for a wonderful couple at Bron Eifion, Criccieth, and will be more than 8 months into my new business venture!
I am LOVING it so far! I have met some amazing people, and have been fortunate enough to collaborate with the most creative and talented professionals on two styled shoots already! This is a really special industry, and it is booming in North Wales! You really can have the wedding of your dreams. If you are wondering what I can offer you, get in touch – I would love to hear about your wedding plans whether it is 2 years away, or 2 weeks! If you want to remove the stress from your BIG day, or want some help in bringing your ideas to life please do get in touch. I would love to help!
This week I will mostly be recovering from a long and tiring, yet fabulous week in Venice, where I delivered a 1,000 delegate corporate event, and catching up on some really exciting inquiries.
Then next up, I will be at the Celebration Events wedding fayre in Venue Cymru on October 29th. This will be my first wedding fayre, and I’m really looking forward to it! … so if you want to meet me in person, make sure you come and say hello!
